Retail Interview Prep   v2.0

Be totally prepared to successfully interview for retail customer service jobs! Retail Interview Prep expands on the premier application Interview Prep (described above), to help you practice for the typical questions asked in retail job interviews.

This demo will show you all of the main screens and features included in the Retail Interview Prep application. The demo is organized in our recommended logical order, to prepare you for interviewing in the most efficient and comprehensive way!

To install this application, search for 'Retail Interview Prep' or 'crossapps.net' in Android Market or Amazon AppStore.

Part 1. Learning and Review
  

Main Screen

  • the first screen you will see is "Learning Mode" displaying all questions in logical order
  • to begin your review, tap on the first question ...
  

Detailed Review Screen - Part 1

  • the detailed review screen provides in-depth material to help you think through the question and it's context
  • Category can be used later to focus on a particular area of concentration
  • the section labelled What the interviewer may be trying to determine helps you understand the likely purpose of the question from the interviewer's perspective
  • the next Suggested Strategy section gives tips on how best to answer the question, with examples
  • continued in part 2 on the next screen ...
  

Detailed Review Screen - Part 2

  • the Avoid section points out some common interviewing mistakes to avoid
  • the My Answer section is a place where you can enter your own best answer, after giving the material some thought
  • in most cases, you can just enter the keywords that will remind you of your own best answer, which avoids too much memorization and sounding too word-for-word rehearsed
  • even better, if your mobile has speech recognition with an easy-to-use speech-to-text feature, you can just speak your answer!
  • initially, all questions are flagged as Favorites, but if a particular question just doesn't seem relevant to your situation, you can uncheck Favorites now (more on this subject later)
  • when you're finished with this question, tap on the Save Changes button ...
  

Back to the Main Screen

  • you have now finished a careful review of the first most typical questions asked in interviews, why its asked, and how you are going to handle it like a pro
  • now take your time to work through each question in turn
  • any significant interview is going to cover a lot of material, so give this learning phase the time it deserves
  • you may need several sessions to work through all these most important questions, but once you have you'll find most of the context is now in your memory recall, just needing a timely refresher
  
Part 2. Practice and Rehearsal
  

Menu Change to Practice / Rehearsal - Part 1

  • once you've finished reviewing all the questions, you're ready for review and practice just prior to actual interviews
  • tap your mobile's MENU button to get access to the advanced features shown on the left
  • we'll discuss all of the advanced features later in this tutorial
  • for now, just tap on Action Modes ... to see more choices

Menu Change to Practice / Rehearsal - Part 2

  • we're finished with Learning / Review mode, at least for now
  • tap to select Practice / Rehearsal mode ...
  

Practice / Rehearsal Mode - Part 1

  • back to the question list again, but this time read the first question
  • mentally rehearse your answer
  • when you're ready, either because you've remembered the essence of what you want to say, or not, then tap the question
  • continued on the next screen ...
  

Practice / Rehearsal Mode - Part 2

  • up pops your answer keywords, so you can check if your mental rehearsal was on the mark or if you need more practice
  • if you didn't enter your own answer, the popup will show the tips from the Suggested Strategy section
  • if your memory still needs more help, you can tap the More detail button to redisplay the Detailed Review Screen
  • back a few slides to the one showing the menu, you may have noticed the Random Order checkbox, which you can try out now - it will "shuffle" the questions, to help you practice for the dynamic interview environment
  • this practice mode is perfect for when you are mobile, anytime in the hours before your scheduled interview appointment
  
Part 3. Advanced Features
  

Favorites Selection

  • the Favorites feature lets you focus on a shorter list of questions as chosen by you
  • you may wish to weed out some questions that just aren't relevant to your situation, or because you need more practice on certain questions
  • you can switch to Favorites only selection mode at any time, by using the Question Selection menu and its Favorites submenu feature
  • favorites may be selected as you review question details in the first place (as described in the fourth slide above, titled "Detailed Review Screen - Part 2"
  • you can also select favorites at any time using the Pick Favorites menu feature, which brings up the screen shown here
  • all you have to do is check or uncheck boxxes, then click on the Save button
  

Customizing Questions and Content

  • in order to tailor fit to your own talents and abilities, you may wish to customize the text of the questions, their supporting material, or even add you own questions
  • complete customization is a unique feature of Interview Prep, as shown in this slide
  • you can switch to customization mode by using the Action Modes ... menu and its Edit / Add Questions submenu feature

  • Interview Prep also includes free "extras", full of useful interviewing advice from our career management experts
  • this slide shows part of the Interview Etiquette tips
  • you can browse through all of this advice via the Extras ... menu and its submenus
